Moth Worlds preview at the 2021 Foiling Week

Tom Slingsby and Paul Hameeteman the winners in the Moth and Waszp class.

Moth Foiling Week Bolina Fraglia Vela Malcesine

Four days of intense racing at Fraglia Vela Malcesine, with the best sailors from all over the world, competing in five different classes: MOTH, WASZP, ETF26, ONEFLY e WINGFOIL. Among the protagonists of the 2021 Foiling Week, Francesco Bruni, Luna Rossa helmsman, Tom Slingsby, gold medalist in the Laser class in the Olympic in Rio, Laser, and Ian Jensen, silver medal in Rio De Janeiro with 49er class. On the starting line also Ruggero Tita, Nacra 17 World Champion in 2018 and Jacopo Plazzi, member of Luna Rossa Sailing Team.

Day 1 and 2

Nothing done on the first day of racing due to the strong instability that did not allow the traditional Ora to stretch out. Only one race completed for the ETF26 class, won by Abc Arbitrage Entreprises Du Morbihan, with Billy Besson, Matthieu Salomon and Valentin Bellet. The second day of the racing, on the other hand, brought great satisfaction to athletes and organizers with 4 races concluded for all classes, with 10-12 knots. In the moth class Tom Slingsby takes the provisional leadership, with 3 partial victories. A win and two second places (and a DNC) for Paul Hameeteman in the Waszp class.

Day 3 and 4

Another regular windy afternoon in Malcesine, with gusts up to 18 knots and another 4 races completed for all classes. No change of leadership in the provisional rankings. Three tests followed by a freestyle session also for the Wingfoil.

The last day of racing does not bring upheavals at the top of the rankings. Tom Slingsby strengthens his leadership in the moth class, with two more bulltets. Second place for the local Ruggero Tita, followed by Nicolaj Jacobsen. In the ETF26 class three first places of the day for Abc Arbitrage Entreprises Du Morbihan, which concludes the Foiling Week 2021 with 10 victories out of 13 races. In the Waszp class Paul Hameeteman prevails, over Charles Cullen and Jeppe Borch. In the Onefly class first place after 8 races for Aymeric Blin.
