Great participation at the 30th edition of the Simone Lombardi Trophy 2024 held from August 6th to 8th at Fraglia Vela Malcesine, with almost 430 competitors (350 in the A-Juniores Division and 78 in the B-Cadetti Division) on the starting line.

The first day was dedicated to the Ora, with the four fleets of Division A (Juniores) and the fleet of Division B (Cadetti) completing three races each.

With three victories of the day, the American athlete Ryan Lee takes the leadership in the Division A standings, followed by Giancarlo Postiglione of Circolo Nautico Vernazzolesi, and the athlete of Fraglia Vela Riva, Jesper Karlsen. Andrea Bonvincini, of Circolo Velico Ravennate, takes the lead in the B Division.

Only one race completed for each fleet on the second day of the Simone Lombardi Trophy, due to an imminent storm that forced the Race Committee to send all the young sailors ashore. In the Division A standings, the American athlete Ryan Lee remains in the lead, followed by Andrea Demurtas of Riva. Giancarlo Postiglione of Circolo Nautico Vernazzolesi slips into third provisional position. First place unchanged in Division B, with the home athlete Pietro Lombardi moving up to second place!

After returning from the regattas, athletes and coaches were able to participate in the eagerly awaited draw for the prizes offered by our sponsors. The winner of the Optimist Winner, Erin Skufca from Croatia!

Thanks to the four races completed in the previous two days, which allowed the discard to take over, the four fleets of Division A were divided on the last day into Gold, Silver, Bronze and Emerald. Only one race was completed at the end of the regatta, which allowed all athletes to conclude the trophy with five races. At the end of the day, Andrea Demurtas of Fraglia Vela Riva and the American Ryan Lee finished with equal points. The American, thanks to the three victories of the first day, took the overall victory in Division A. Third place went to the Swedish Forseen Alexander. First place for the female athlete was the athlete from Centro Nautico Bardolino, Irene Faini.

In Division B, the podium remained unchanged compared to the second day of the Trophy, with Andrea Bonvicini of Circolo Velico Ravennate at the top and the home athlete Pietro Lombardi in second overall position. Third step of the podium and first place for the Turkish Melisa Adakan.

Fraglia Vela Riva, thanks to the excellent placings of Andrea Demurtas (2nd), Roman Vyevyenko (23rd) and Villiams Osipovs (28th), confirms itself as the winner of the Simone Lombardi Trophy for the third consecutive year.

A heartfelt thank you to the Lombardi family, the municipal administration and all the sponsors of the event and of Fraglia Vela Malcesine.
